LFC 5-0 Real Madrid
Tonights Champions League game with Real Madrid conjures ups memories of a special week in March 2009.
We'd beaten Real Madrid two weeks earlier at the Bernabeu 0-1 with an 82nd minute winner from Yossi Benayoun, a Rafa masterplan.
The return leg was to be followed by United at Old Trafford, a massive four days. Who could have predicted what happened next!
Anfield was rocking under the lights on the Tuesday night, a few pre match pints to help steady the nerves and oil the vocal cords to sing us into the quarter finals, fingers crossed!
We got off to a great start with Torres scoring our first on sixteen minutes on the night to make it 2-0 on aggregate, Anfield went absolutely mad.
Just before the half hour Alonso sprayed a great ball out to Arbeloa on the right hand side of the penalty area, Heinze handled it, penalty! Gerrard sent Casillas the wrong way from the spot, 2-0 on the night, party time and only half an hour played!
The second half had barely kicked off when Ryan Babel skinned Ramos to put a great cross in from the left for Gerrard to smash in the 3rd on the night, now 4-0 on aggregate.
On the 74th minute Jay Spearing came on to boss the Liverpool midfield, it was that sort of night! To round things off Dossena even got in on the act with our 4th on the night to put us through to the quarter finals 5-0 on aggregate against Real Madrid. Rafa's masterplan was complete.
Four days later we went to Old Trafford and battered them 1-4, some week for Dossena who got the 4th again!
While tonights game against Real is a massive ask with no crowd you never know but whatever happens, in Jurgen we trust.
